FILLINGS,
CROWNS &
BRIDGES
DR. STEVEN T. CURRY
DENTAL OFFICE
When teeth are injured by decay or broken in an accident there
are 3 ways to repair the damage:  fillings, crowns and bridges.
                              FILLINGS
For small to medium repairs, the appearance and strength of a
tooth can be restored using modern, bonded tooth-colored
fillings.  This material is far superior to the old "silver" fillings
because it forms a chemical
and a mechanical bond with the
actual tooth structure to become a part of the tooth.  Bonded
fillings strengthen teeth and look beautiful doing it.
TOOTH  DECAY

There's a lot going on
in our mouths, right
now.  Whether we're
awake or sleeping, we
are hosts to an unseen
world of living yeasts
and bacteria that are
always present in our
mouths.  Most of them
are necessary-- good,
even.  Good bacteria
help us digest our food
and aid in fighting off
many illnesses that
might enter our bodies
through the things we
eat.

Then, there are the
other, unhealthy ones.
Of these, a noteworthy
one is
Streptococcus
mutans
, which is an
extremely destructive
bacterium.   It thrives
in the warm moisture
of our mouths and eats
what we eat:  giving off
an acid bath to gain a
firmer foothold into
our teeth.
S. mutans'
acid bath is what
causes tooth decay.
                       CROWN & BRIDGE
When teeth have suffered heavy decay, had large fillings in them
for many years, or been badly injured in an accident, the ideal
way to repair and protect them is by placing a crown.  A crown
acts as a protective cap to help prevent biting forces from
splitting a tooth.  By doing this, crowns shield and retain our
teeth on a longer-term basis.
We do only high-end porcelain; porcelain over gold; or gold
crowns.  The beauty and durability of our carefully made crowns
makes them highly desired and appreciated.

Fixed bridges are long-term restorations, used to replace teeth
that have been lost.  The missing teeth are reproduced to blend
aesthetically with surrounding teeth, and are then cemented into
place.  Each bridge is individually designed to meet your specific
needs.  Like crowns, our bridges are made of high-end porcelain;
porcelain over gold; or gold.
